Johnny Unitis...

Fifty year storm hits the south east of Australia and all the hellmen come out to play.  Bodhi's not paddling to New Zealand he's foaming at the bit to snag a bomb.  Only about fifteen people out at bells, but a huge crowd buzz around the hill to watch the hellmen take on this huge swell.  Was farkin sick to watch what went down on the weekend.  Full props to Matty and Gaz, for lugging their massive wheels into their wetties and taking it on.  Well done boys.  A few snaps of the sick weekend of waves and mother nature at her best.

I've been pretty lazy with this for a while, but I have been flat out with school.  With all this new technology I still really enjoy going back to basics and exploring pin hole.  Weekend shot in Melbourne using out of date and weathered 120 film on my Diana camera.  Pin hole setting, about four second exposure.  Stoked with the results.

self portrait experience

I've got a self portrait project to do for school, objective to portray your own personality in one photo.  Kind of creepy exploring your own personality sometimes when half the time you're just as confused as anyone else.  I took a fair few last year while I was traveling, some being a knob, some just of me doing what I had been doing the whole trip.  Right now my self portrait kind of made me feel a little lost, but wanting experience again.  Traveling is pretty raw and amazing and right now in my life I feel that I need to get out, break out, see the world more, surf more and enjoy the simple things in life.  The last shot is my recent self portrait for the project, kind of shows where I am at with out saying anything, well in my mind it does.  The one on my board was taken by a friend in Nicaragua, but it is what that whole trip was about, I surfed pretty much for six month straight.  Enjoy

Finally been given some color film and been shown how to use the C-41 processor, pretty stoked with the results from my hand crafted tool of choice.  Life doesn't need to be difficult.

Just got home from a couple of epic weeks up the east coast to Byron.  Had a ball, everyone was frothing, the waves were good and music was sweet.  Here is a bit of the stoke that we all had.  Can't believe the party is over...

sunday surprise

All the websites were saying small waves for sunday, but for those who were around to witness the swell jump from 2ft in the morning to a pumping 6ft+ by the end of the day were rewarded with some amazing waves.  Everyone was frothing at the bit in the afternoon and so they should have.  The internet can be good and bad, sometimes its best to wing it and see it for yourself rather than going off the morning surf report.
